As a Director at Hunden Partners, Matthew Avila serves as a project lead and trusted advisor on major real estate, hospitality, venue development, and tourism projects. Working alongside Hunden’s Executive Vice Presidents, he guides clients through a tailored process that delivers the insights needed to drive projects forward. He leads teams of analysts and project managers to gather and interpret market data from kickoff research and meetings to delivery of findings and recommendations.

During his time at Hunden, Matthew has spearheaded major projects across the professional sports, hospitality, and mixed-use sectors. His recent work includes the advisory work on the 76 Place Proposal and South Philadelphia Sports Complex in Philadelphia, the Rock Creek Entertainment District & New Arena for the University of Oklahoma in Norman, a 650-room headquarters hotel for the Arvest Convention Center in Tulsa, and the redevelopment of a historic building into a boutique hotel in Johnson City, Tennessee, among many others.

In 2022, Matthew delivered the State of the Industry presentation at ALSD International at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, speaking to over 300 global industry leaders in the professional sports venue development and operations field.

Matthew earned his Bachelor of Science in Finance and Real Estate from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, where he was a member of the Commercial Real Estate Workshop and studied abroad at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, Italy. He and his teammates won first place in the 12th Annual Stanley E. Hunt Real Estate Development Case Competition for their proposed redevelopment of Bloomington’s Trades District into a mixed-use office, multifamily, and retail destination.
